Watch the opening report for the movies released this weekAaron Eckhart starrer Battle: Los Angeles is amongst the most successful movies of this season. The movie has crossed over $36 million until last Sunday and is expected to cross more in the coming week. Actor Aaron Eckhart plays a veteran soldier who leads a platoon of marines in fight with the invading aliens. The movie has turned out a great hit for Columbia pictures & Sony. This reminds of their other Oscar nominated hit movie district 9. Although Battle: Los Angeles has turned out to be very successful it lacks the charm of district 9. The movies successful marketing campaign manages to grab the attention of its male fans, as according to the analysts 68% of the viewers were men.Rory Bruer President of worldwide Sony said that the movie was kind of summer film in spring and that the company was already very excited about the movie since the beginning.Bruer said that there is a connection between district 9 and Battle: Los Angeles as District 9 had also hit the box offices & had opened at $37 million. Battle: Los Angeles has got similar opening and is expected to cross the sales of District 9.Rango is doing pretty well as it adds an amount of $23.1 in the second week of its release which makes the count go up to $ 68.7 million in total. The latest celebrity news is that the animated flick would cross over a $ 100 million in the coming weeks.Amanda Seyfried starrer fairy tale Red Riding Hood directed by Catherine Hardwicke opened with $ 14.1 million.Disneys 3d animated flick Mars needs moms failed at the box offices badly as it opened for only $ 6.8 million , which is way less than what was expected. Its estimated production cost is about $ 150 million and if the sales continue this way then they are sure to bear a huge loss with this movie. The movie has been voiced by stars like Seth Green & Joan Cusack. It was released in over 200 IMAX screens. The movie was based on Berkeley Breathed book Mars needs Moms!Though other Disney movies like the Gnomeo & Juliet gives a sigh of relief to the company as it backs about $ 89 million in 5 weeks. So they will have some place to cover up.Compared to last year this year isnt getting too lucky for the movie business. The business this year is just about 21.5 % of the last years business pace. Still we can say Hollywood is going strong & is not ready to give up. Stay tuned to know latest celebrity news on Previewnight.com.
