Celebrity Rumors Are Like Wild Fires - Entertainment - Celebrities

In our current society, we love to worship, stalk, and comment on our beloved celebrities every move. With the tabloids creating their own rumors on celebrities to generate massive press, news like this seems to spread like wildfire. The television shows get it, then the blogs, then the magazines. The most incredible part, there have actually been million dollar companies created from reporting on celebrity news.

The popularity ofcelebrity news and rumors is so immense that the most searched terms in some of the worlds most popular websites are the names of celebrities. Most recently, celebrities like Lady Gaga and Kim Kardashian were some of the most search for terms in Bing. Years ago it was Paris Hilton and Britney spears.

When a rumor is created, it spreads so quickly these rumors have actually crashed Twitter's servers. The #RIPJustinBieber has tag has crashed twitter's servers multiple times, not to mention scaring Bieber's friends and families.

America's obsession with our famous people is so immense that there is an entire sub-culture around celebrities, what they do, eat, etc. There are entire TV shows on every major television network dedicated to 30 minutes of all the latest celebrity news. Countless celebrity blogs, websites, podcasts, youtube channels -- you name it and there is something at any given moment being published about something a celebrity has done. It could be the fact that so many young people want to be just like their idols, or just that we as regular American citizens are jealous of the lavish and amazing lives these people live.

In today's world, anyone can become an instant celebrity with the power of the internet. Even those who are just dating a well known celebrity, who aren't famous at all -- become celebrities. Many wonder if in other countries with larger populations as the U.S. have a similar obsession with their celebrities. China and India are more than twice the size of the United States and yet many people couldn't name a single huge Indian or Chinese celebrity living in those countries. We all know that the UK has its celebrity obsessions as well, with the recent engagement of the Prince there was a massive media storm.

This brings the question that is celebrity news, rumors, and gossip just a part of the United State's culture? Maybe other countries just don't care as much about their rich and famous and tend to worry about more important things in life.
