Stars live fairy tale lives. They seem to have it all. Celebrities live in fabulous homes, own expensive cars, shop and eat at only the finest places.
We as a society wonder what it would be like to live that kind of life. We wish we never had to worry about how to pay the bills, and what is for dinner. We want exotic vacations and the best clothes. We dream about having a stylist and a housekeeper, or maybe our own personal chef. We see stars in magazine with perfect bodies and their own personal trainers. We become so interested in this kind of life we want to peek inside and see what it is like. This is the reason we are so intrigued with celebrities
Even as teenagers there were the popular kids in our lives. We were captivated with how attractive they were or how talented they were in sports. We were even a little envious. The same is true of stars. Gossip news magazines say the people want to see how these celebrities live so lets follow them around and give the public a taste of their favorite celebrities day to day activities.
A television show like TMZ takes a camera and lets us see how Katie Holmes is wearing her hair or where Britney Spears is going on vacation. They show us who is dating whom and where they eat or party. We see where Candy Spelling is selling her huge mansion to Tori Spelling having another baby.
We also love to see them fail. Gossip shows usually lead with a star that is in some kind of trouble. Usually we gossip about the bad stuff, just like the gossip shows do. We see how this particular celebrity is anorexic or this one is too fat. We see which star is in rehab and which one is out. We become fascinated with their lives and habits.
Celebrities are like the popular kids. We want to talk about them, be like them, love them, hate them, and adore them. We want to be them. We also love to see them make a fool of themselves and mess up because then for a little while we feel a little superior because we didn't mess up like that.
I think most people never realize that celebrities are just fallible human beings. They sleep, eat and hurt just like we do. They just have talent and a great deal of money. Maybe, after all, it's just the money and talent we choose to become fascinated with.
